1. Roles: controller and processor
Your ward bishopric is the data controller for your ward's member data. WardCentral acts as a data processor on the bishopric's behalf — we process the data to provide the admin features, not for our own purposes.
2. What we collect
Account data: your email address, a hashed password, your mobile number, and your SMS opt-in preference (receiving texts is optional and off by default). Imported ward data: the Member Directory and Member Callings reports you paste in, from which WardCentral derives callings, calling groups, and assignments. We practice data minimization — only the data needed for the feature set is kept, with continuity data focused on the bishopric, clerk, and executive secretary.
3. How we use it
Solely to operate WardCentral for your ward: ingestion, verification, and the admin screens. Your member data is never sold and never used for advertising. Your mobile number and SMS opt-in consent are never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
4. Security & key custody
Member PII is encrypted at rest (AES-256-GCM) with a per-ward key held under leaders-only custody: the key is wrapped under keys derived from your bishopric's passphrases, so WardCentral cannot read your data from its database or backups — decryption requires a ward leader to sign in. Access is scoped to your ward's verified leaders; other wards can't see it.
5. Sharing & sub-processors
We don't sell or share your member data across wards. To deliver activation messages we use email and SMS providers as sub-processors, limited to that purpose.
6. Retention, access & deletion
Member data is tied to your ward and controlled by the bishopric, persisting across leadership transitions so a new bishopric inherits a working setup. Released leaders lose access. A bishopric may request export or deletion of its ward's data.
7. Not official Church software
WardCentral is an independent tool — not official Church software. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
